Fela Kuti, Zombie… Tony Allen died today. The one thing that is crazy is newspapers and radio stations that never played or talked about anything that he ever did all of a sudden are his biggest fans.
I really wish I had more of his music (if I ever get a job that pays some money, I for sure will be getting more Arfobeat). The record stores that I would often go to in south-western Ontario would have very little Afrobeat records (or even none at all). Nowadays, its possible to find something but you have to pay a half fortune to get it.
Anyways… I remember hearing this on Detroit radio (yes the full version) when I was a naive, foolish boy; its one of those songs that changed me…
