Grimes, Visions, 4AD, 2012… Apparently Grimes had a baby on May 4th. So having one of her records, I decided to celebrate by listening to it. I remember a few years ago I was a bit bored with my record collection and thought that it needed a bit more variety. Also at the time I was amused with Grimes since she is Canadian and didn’t follow the standard norms that all of the other popular Canadian female singers tend to.
I bought this record while on a vacation at Skully’z Records. I was looking for other stuff, but things were picked over since some big festivals were coming up. Its can be a lot of fun in checking out record stores in other places.
Anyways… I think side 1 is far better than side 2. Perhaps, one can say its a collection of A side and B side material.
I was going to try to write a clever thing about the baby’s name. The only thing I’m going to say is that Æ symbol is normal since the Œ symbol is used in french quite often (in words such as œuf and bœuf). I guess the strangeness is that it is on its own, not part of word.
